Γαληνὸς ὁ Περγαμηνός
Galen of Pergamon II
2 works

Galen of Pergamon II (Γαληνὸς ὁ Περγαμηνός) was a 2nd-century CE grammarian, distinct from the renowned physician of the same name. The Byzantine encyclopedia Suda identifies him as a grammarian from Pergamon, the son of Nicon, and a contemporary of the emperor Hadrian [1].

The Suda attributes two lost works to him: On the Dialect of the Atticists (Περὶ τῆς Ἀττικῶν διαλέκτου) and Various Histories (Παντοδαπὴ ἱστορία) [1].

His significance lies in his distinction from the physician Galen and his place within the Atticist movement of the Second Sophistic. His treatise on the Atticists' dialect represents the specialized grammatical scholarship of the Roman Imperial period.
