Menetor the Historian (Μενέτωρ ὁ Ἱστορικός) is a figure of uncertain historicity. The name appears in antiquity, but not clearly attached to a historian. Athenaeus cites a Menetor as the author of a culinary work, On the Art of Cooking (Ὀψαρτυτικός) [1], while the Suda mentions a "Menetor of Athens" without detail [2]. Proposed dates from the 3rd century BCE to the 2nd century CE lack corroboration from existing sources.
No historical works are verifiably attributed to Menetor. The sole extant attribution is the gastronomic treatise On the Art of Cooking.
Consequently, Menetor the Historian holds no established significance in the field of Greek historiography. The figure is significant only indirectly, as the name preserved in relation to a minor work on cookery.
