Teucer of Cyzicus (Τεῦκρος ὁ Κυζικηνός) was a Hellenistic historian from the city of Cyzicus in Asia Minor, active in the 1st century BCE. No details of his personal life survive. His existence and work are attested solely through later citations.
His only known work is a lost historical text, referenced by Athenaeus of Naucratis in the Deipnosophistae [1]. The fragments suggest it treated cultural or historical subjects, possibly concerning customs or notable figures.
Teucer is a minor figure whose significance lies in his role as a source for later antiquarian compilers like Athenaeus. He represents the many local historians of Hellenistic Asia Minor whose fragmentary works contributed to the broader historiographical tradition. His citations preserve incidental historical and cultural details.
