The Praise of a Professor Teaching at Berytus University is an anonymous Greek verse encomium composed in honor of a distinguished professor at the University of Berytus, the Roman-era law school in modern Beirut. The extant lines describe the students, unable to see their teacher in person, commissioning two portraits of him—one a physical painting by artists and the other a mental image held in their minds.
